June 7, 2014 – Charlottesville, VA – The University of Virginia Foundation hosted its 4th annual 5K race in the University of Virginia Research Park on Saturday June 7th. InCadence was a proud sponsor and participant in the race this year for the 3rd time! Race day events included an all-terrain 5k, kid’s fun run, and a post-race expo featuring technologies developed by Charlottesville area companies that support soldier safety in theater. Over 2,000 runners, walkers and spectators participated in the events on June 7th. Family members and many community supporters including the fire department and sponsoring companies were there to set the stage and cheer the racers on.
The University of Virginia covers all administrative costs associated with the race so that 100% of the money collected goes directly to the Wounded Warrior Project. Over the past four years, the 4 the Wounded 5k has raised over $275,000 in support of our wounded warriors. The Wounded Warrior Project provides programs and services to tens of thousands of service men and women who have been injured in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, many suffering traumatic brain injuries, amputations and severe burns.
