The Principles Behind the Agile Manifesto

We follow these principles: Our highest priority is to satisfy the customer through early and continuous delivery of valuable software. Welcome changing requirements, even late in development. Agile processes harness change for the customer's competitive advantage. Deliver working software frequently, from a couple of weeks to a couple of months, with a preference to the shorter timescale. Business people and developers must work together daily throughout the project. Build projects around motivated individuals. Give them the environment and support they need, and trust them to get the job done. The most efficient and effective method of conveying information to and within a development team is face-to-face conversation. Working software is the primary measure of progress. Agile processes promote sustainable development. The sponsors, developers, and users should be able to maintain a constant pace indefinitely. Continuous attention to technical excellence and good design enhances agility. Simplicity--the art of maximizing the amount of work not done--is essential. The best architectures, requirements, and designs emerge from self-organizing teams. At regular intervals, the team reflects on how to become more effective, then tunes and adjusts its behavior accordingly.

No Smoke and Mirrors

All too often, technical solutions are really smoke and mirrors. At InCadence, our philosophy is simple… no smoke and mirrors. A PowerPoint presentation is not a software deliverable. When we build and demonstrate capabilities, we demonstrate functional software that meets the customer’s requirements. It’s not enough, though, to just meet the requirements. It’s important that the software and systems we build will operate as intended in the production environment, with real users, in the real world. InCadence is committed to our customers throughout the process, from concept to design to implementation to fielding to support.

Fanatical Attention to Detail

It’s not enough for software to simply work well. It has to look good. It has to feel good. It has to be polished and behave the way users expect it to behave. Whether we’re building Windows or Web-based applications on the Microsoft Platform using .NET, or mobile applications on Android platforms using Java, our senior technical leadership ensures that applications are intuitive, well-designed, and elegantly executed both visually and functionally. We work closely with customers and end users, and adjust designs and implementation to be sure that it meets and exceeds their expectations. In some cases, we actually conduct regular webinars with end users, even in the combat zones, to demonstrate progress and to preview functionality. This is a key part of Agile, and a key assurance that when the final product is delivered, it hits the mark.
